Arthur A. Gittens Sr. Memorial Education Annual Scholarship
(June 2022)
Arthur A. Gittens Sr., A husband, father, grandfather and brother
Arthur believed in the wonder of education, personal growth, strong work ethic and good character.
Offered to: Burlington City, NJ Students Only (African American Males)
Amount: $500
Eligibility: The most improved BCHS African American male student in the area of Language Arts and/or Math. The student must be of good character and have a strong work ethic.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA

Childcare Career Scholarship
In Honor of: Elmira Gittens, the matriarch of the Gittens Family
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $150-$300
​Eligibility: Students who plan to pursue a career in childcare. The student must be currently employed at a childcare facility and/or have accepted a position at a childcare facility within 2 months of graduation.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA


Barbados Scholarship
In Honor of: Arthur's brothers, sister and their families
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $150-$300
Eligibility: Students of Barbadian descent who have been accepted to a trade school, college, university or the military and plan to attend. The student is also eligible, if he or she chooses, to pursue an entrepreneurial career. The student must provide evidence of starting his or her own business or registration to an entrepreneurial class/program/school.
GPA Requirement: 3.0 GPA
April A. Gittens Cheerleading Scholarship

In Honor of: April A. Gittens-Johnson
April is a Burlington Township Alumni who was a varsity cheerleader at Burlington Township High School and Seton Hall University. Cheerleading will forever be in her heart.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: A student who is a varsity cheerleading captain and a base. The cheerleader must be accepted to a university where she or he plans to cheer at the college level and must possess a LOVE for cheerleading.
GPA Requirement: 3.5 GPA


Arthur A. Gittens Jr., Radio Personality Scholarship
(June 2022)
In Honor of: Arthur A. Gittens Jr.
Arthur was a former disc jockey and board operator. He always had a passion for radio and music growing up and he continues to share that passion with family and friends today.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: Students who plan to pursue a career as a radio disc jockey, radio board operator, music engineer, music producer or broadcast journalist.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA

Gittens Music Scholarship
In Honor of: B. Larry Gittens
Larry is a Burlington City High school alumni and trumpeter who developed a love for musicianship while attending Burlington City Schools in New Jersey.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: Students who excel in any music genre, possess a love of musicianship and plan to pursue a career in music. This may include but is not limited to: instrumental, vocal, written word, music engineering, sound production, etc.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA

April is a current middle school educator and an alumni of Seton Hall University who majored in English and minored in Psychology.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: A student who plans to attend and has been accepted to a university or college. The student must major in English, Education and/or Psychology.
GPA Requirement: 3.5 GPA


Communications Scholarship

Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: Students who plan to pursue a career in communications, public relations or motivational speaking. The student must attend a public speaking program, attend college, trade school or the military within three months of graduation.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA

Faith Scholarship
In Honor of: Patricia Gittens
Patricia is a God-fearing motivator who continues to share her gift with others.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: A student who demonstrates a strong faith in religion. The student must be of good character and have a pleasant disposition. The student must attend a college, trade school or the military.
GPA Requirement: 3.5 GPA

Wayne is an alumni of Burlington City High School and Farleigh Dickinson University. He always had a passion for basketball as a teenager and young adult.

Eligibility: Students who have received a full or partial scholarship from a Division 1 or 2 university and plan to play basketball or tennis for the university.

Eligibility: Students who continue to radiate their light onto others while enduring an illness or disability.
GPA Requirement: 2.0 or above

Altruism/Community Service Scholarship
In Honor of: Celeste Jackson and Tina L. Jackson
Celeste and Tina are two strong yet gentle women of the Gittens family. They give their love, time and generosity to their family and friends unconditionally.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $100-$300
Eligibility: Students who possess a humanitarian personality and spirit. Students who are always willing to help someone whether it's through kind gestures, words or volunteering their time to their community.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA

Education and Technology Scholarship
In Honor of: Dr. George Jackson
Dr. George Jackson is a Burlington City High School alumni and a NJIT graduate. As an experienced educator, he encourages students to read, inquire and explore their world in and out of the classroom.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount $200-$500
Eligibility: A student who plans to attend and has been accepted to a university or college. The student must aspire to teach in an educational environment and major in education or technology.
GPA Requirement: 3.0 GPA

The Arts Scholarship
In Honor of: Miriam Gittens, an Accomplished Dancer and Alayna Gittens-Johnson, an Aspiring Artist
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: Students who plan to pursue a career in an Arts genre (dance, acting, art, singing, writing, and more.)
GPA Requirement: 3.0 GPA

Eligibility: Students who have received a full or partial scholarship from a Division 1 or 2 university and plan to play baseball or softball for the university.

Military Scholarship
In Honor of: Arthur A. Gittens Sr. and Arthur A. Gittens Jr., Army Veterans
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: Students planning to pursue a military career. The student must be enlisted in one of the following military branches by the end of the summer after they graduate from high school: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard. An additional letter of recommendation from the student's recruiter is required for this scholarship.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA

Pisces Poetry Pride Scholarship
In Honor of: The Gittens Family Pisces and Poets and Pisces Poets Everywhere
Amount: $150-$300
Eligibility: The student must have a Pisces zodiac sign (born between Feb. 20th and March 19th). The student must have a "B" average in English and show promise in writing poetry. The student must plan to attend and has been accepted to college, trade school or the military.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA

In Honor of: Alfreda Gittens
Alfreda is a retired ER and pediatric nurse who served patients for many years.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: Students who plan to pursue a nursing career and have been accepted into a nursing program.
GPA Requirement: 3.5

Entrepreneur Scholarship
In Honor of: The Gittens Entrepreneurial Spirit
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: Students planning to pursue an entrepreneurial career. The student must provide evidence of starting his or her own business or registration to an entrepreneurial class/program/school.
GPA Requirement: 2.5 or above

Warrior Scholarship
In Honor of: Alayna Gittens-Johnson and premature babies everywhere and warrior adolescents
Alayna was born at 31 weeks with a weight of 3Ibs. 7.7 ounces. She defied all odds and continues to be a warrior today.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $150-$300
Eligibility: Female students that were born premature or female students that overcame a major life-altering experience (ACES). The student must plan to attend and have been accepted to college. The student must major in a mathematics ,science or psychology related field.
GPA Requirement: 3.0

Hometown Scholarship
In Honor of : The Gittens Family Neighborhood
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $100-$250
Eligibility: Students who currently reside in Burlington Township, Burlington City or Mount Laurel, NJ. The student must have been a resident of Burlington Township, Burlington City or Mount Laurel since fourth grade and plans to attend college, trade school or the military.
GPA Requirement: 3.0 or above

Gittens Foundation Change Scholarship
In Honor of: Gabrielle Jackson and Danielle Jackson
Gabrielle and Danielle Jackson are two young women that strive to make a difference in the lives of others.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $100-$300
Eligibility: Students with the potential to make change in society, in their own life and in the lives of others. The student must plan to pursue a career in social justice, human rights, law, social service work, life coaching, personal training and other related fields.
GPA Requirement: 2.0

Gittens Foundation Transform Scholarship
In Honor of: Sheena Jackson
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $100-$300
Sheena Jackson is a woman who works hard to achieve greatness regardless of adversity.
Eligibility: Students that plan to pursue a career in any field with or without attending college, trade school or the military.

Gittens Foundation Innovate Scholarship
In Honor of: Riana Marshall
Riana Marshall is a talented chef with her own entrepreneurial business.
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $100-$300
Eligibility: Students interested in pursuing a career in culinary arts. Students may attend college, trade school or entrepreneurial training in order to be eligible for the Innovate scholarship

Gittens Foundation Connect Scholar
In Honor of: Gina Monreal
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $100-$300
Gina Monreal is an experienced IT specialist who helps people connect through technology.
Eligibility: Students that plan to pursue a career in any field with or without attending college, trade school or the military.
GPA Requirement: 2.0 or above

Student Leadership Scholarship
In Honor of: April A. Gittens-Johnson
Offered to: High School Graduates
Amount: $500-$1,000
Eligibility: Interview Required
GPA Requirement: 3.7 or higher
Students who have exhibited leadership qualities throughout their high school years and currently hold a leadership position. Positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, Captain, Co-Captain, Church Youth Leader, etc.
Must be an active leader in and out of the classroom environment.
Must be on the honor roll, high honor roll and/or National Honor Society
Must be active in two clubs
Must be an avid volunteer and provide community service for others
Must plan to attend and has been accepted to a university or college.
Must major in one of the following majors: Education, English, Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, Political Science or Communications.
